Low Reimbursement for Optometrists in California - ABC News Sacramento

Medi-Cal pays Optometrists lower than major vision insurance carriers and Medicare. Approximately 1 out of 3 people in California have Medi-Cal and this is a community of people that need access to eye care services. There are very limited places where Medi-Cal patients can get access to eye care services and often times appointments are booked many months in advance. Dr. Paymaun Asnaashari discusses with ABC News Sacramento the challenge he faces as a small business owner. He hopes that the State of California and Governer Gavin Newsom will put a budget together that will allow Medi-Cal reimbursements rates to a competitive level. Dr. Paymaun would love to see Medi-Cal patients if the state increases reimbursements.
